PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Public Health Department provides drinking water
supply facilities and sewerage facilities in rural as well as urban areas.
Present status regarding these facilities is as under: -
I. RURAL

Govt. of Haryana
has launched a program to augment water supply facilities upto 55 lpcd. Uptill now
115 villages have been augmented under this program and the work to augment
water supply facilities upto 55 lpcd in 99 villages is in progress. 12310 No.
Private water connections have been provided in 137 No. Villages. Water charges
fore each connection at the rate of Rs. 20/- for single tap and Rs.10/- for
each additional tap are being levied on consumers on private connection. Water
supply in other villages is being given through Public stand posts free of
charge. As soon as Augmentation of water supply work is completed in these
villages, Public stand posts shall be converted to private water connection.
At present there
is no policy to provide sewerage facilities in villages.
II. URBAN
There are 4 Towns
namely Kurukshetra, Pehowa, Shahabad and Ladwa in District Kurukshetra. All
towns stand provided with drinking water supply facilities and partially
sewerage facilities. Water supply is being provided through private water
connections. Water charges per connection @ Rs.25/- per single tap and @ Rs.40/-
where No. of taps are more are being levied on domestic water connections. In
case of metered supply water charges @ Re. 1/- per Kilo litre for domestic
connection and @ Rs.2/- per Kilo litre for commercial connection are being
charges. Sewerage charges per connection @ Rs. 5/- per W.C. and Rs.2.50/- per
urinal are being levied. present status regarding drinking water supply
