The Shahabad Coop. Sugar Mills was registered as a
Cooperative Society in 1976. The
Mills is situated on Ladwa-Shahabad road.
The letter of intent for establishment of the Sugar Mills of 1250 TCD
was received on 14.7.1981 and the foundation stone of Shahabad Sugar Mills
was laid on 21.8.83. The crushing
operations of plant were inaugurated on 6.2.1985. The crushing capacity of the Mills was increased from 1250 TCD
to 3500 TCD in the crushing season 1995-96. Around Rs. 29.00 crores
were spent on the expansion of the Mills and the Mills met the whole
expenditure incurred on expansion by its own resources without taking loan
from any Institution. Total
cumulative profit from the establishment of the Mills till the year 2005-06
is Rs. 61.02 Crores, which is an indicative of good financial position of the
Mills. There is no liability of any Financial Institutions or State Govt. on
the Mills. The Mills has provided
Rs.2,53,17,432.00 as Cane purchase tax to the Haryana Govt. in the past three
years. During the crushing season 2005-06 the Mills crushed 56.68 lacs qtls.of cane, thus exceeding the targets for crushing season, which is an achievement. The Sugar recovery for the season was 10.12%. The Mills has achieved 100% capacity utilization. This is an achievement in itself at National level. The Mills has fixed a target of 65 lacs qtls.of. Cane crushing for the season 2006-07. The area of the Mills is in radius of 32
Kilometers. It spreads 16 Kms. towards Yamunanagar and 25 Kms. In other
directions. In the area of the Mills,
there are three cane growers societies i.e. Radaur, Mustafa bad and Kesri,
through which around 50% sugarcane is purchased by the Mills and balance cane
is purchased directly from growers by the Mills. In the last crushing season 2005-06, the area under sugarcane
cultivation in the assigned area of the Mills was around 38500 acres, which
has now increased to around 42000 acres for the crushing season 2006-07.
Under
the sugarcane development plan the Mills is providing various facilities to
its cane growers to increase the production of sugarcane. Among the facilities, the facilities of
interest free loan against the sugarcane seed for the development of high
sugared varieties, interest free loan and 10% subsidy for pesticides, Hot and
moist air treated sugarcane seed free of cost and subsidy @ Rs.300.00 per
acre for sowing treated seed are the main.
The Mills has constructed a Kisan Rest House in its Cane Yard. The Rest House is equipped with all
facilities for its growers so that no inconvenience is caused to the growers. Biological
control laboratory has been established in the mills to provide different
types of parasites for the control of different types of insects and pests of
sugar cane. These cards are provided free of cost to the farmers. |
